What to Avoid

The Don'ts of the Dumpster World

Do Not: Overload a Dumpster

Try breaking down tree branches and other items to ensure they are not loaded over the top of the dumpster. Be aware that if the content within the dumpster is beginning to overflow, it is likely that the dumpster is overweight which can lead to damage and safety issues. We also must be able to tarp the dumpster for hauling.

Do Not: Top Load a Dumpster

Top loading is when you place light materials at the bottom of the dumpster and heavier ones at the top. This can lead to trucks falling over due to uneven weight distribution. Try putting heavier materials like concrete or shingles at the bottom of the dumpster to weigh the container down.

Do Not: Put Unacceptable Waste in the Dumpster

Unacceptable waste includes wet paint, hazardous waste, propane tanks and liquid chemicals.

TVs, monitors, appliances, tires, and batteries are accepted at an additional fee. Please place these items just inside the dumpster door and inform the driver of their presense.
